Supervision for Human Service Workers
I provide supervision to social workers, counsellors, psychologists, case managers, allied health professionals and community workers. I am particularly interested in people who work from a neurodivergent lived experience perspective and are passionate about the intersection of justice, power and neuronormativity.
Particular emphasis is placed on critical reflection on issues of power, ethical, intersectional practice and working in ways where our values are centred. Many people come to supervision for varying needs: some requiring support around management structures and the impact this can have on the work we do, the personal impacting our professional work and also for support in direct client work.
I do ask all supervision clients to come with some ideas around their practice they would like to focus on. This helps to ensure that you get the most out of your time and accountability to your practice and those you seek to serve in our field. The focus of supervision will reflect a relational, intersectional narrative framework:
- What is working well in your practice?
- What is getting in the way of working in ways that align with your ethics and preferred ways of being as a counsellor/social worker/community worker?
- In what ways are ideas around gender, colonisation, disability, ageism, sexuality and normative culture influencing your work?
- Identifying what you would like to do differently and who and what resources will support your practice.
- Future steps to take that are in line of where you want to take your professional practice.
The location of supervision can be at your office or at a place of your choosing or via Zoom.
